Stained Glass

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est

Walk with me through the gentleness of Saints
the windows throw their colours on the floor
and warm the silence of the stone,
the silence in our hearts.

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est

Your feet are gently washed
your feet are dried, your steps are blessed,
walk here in humility
through the glow of sunlit glass.

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est

We are walking softly
past the watchfulness of Saints
our steps becoming royal in their light.

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est

Your feet are gently washed
your feet are dried, your steps are blessed,
walk here in humility
through the glow of sunlit glass.

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est

We are in step, in peace
we walk on shifting stone,
may we glimpse the earth
from the seraph’s height
down to the burrowing worm.

Ubi caritas est vera deus ibi est*
